DPMHS Students Shine at National STN 2025 Competition

Daniel Pearl Magnet High School’s video production students recently traveled to Tampa, Florida, to compete in the prestigious Student Television Network (STN) Conference, and their performance was nothing short of outstanding.

The team took on the intense Short & Silent Film competitions, where they had just hours to conceptualize, shoot, and edit a film from scratch. The level of competition was incredibly high—our students narrowly missed placing by just one point, with each winning film separated by the same razor-thin margin.

While the final rankings were close, what truly set our students apart was their teamwork, creativity, and professionalism. Throughout the fast-paced challenge, they supported each other, collaborated under pressure, and demonstrated remarkable sportsmanship. Even in the face of a tough competition outcome, they chose to uplift one another, showing maturity and resilience that made DPMHS proud.

“In my professional opinion, our students produced a film that stood out among the best,” said video production teacher Tennessee Reid Norton. “But as we know, judging in competitions—just like in the Oscars—can be subjective. Regardless of the final rankings, their work was truly exceptional.”

The experience was a testament to the students’ talent and dedication, and they represented DPMHS with excellence. Congratulations to our incredible team for their hard work and success at STN 2025!
