Daniel Pearl CTE Educational Pathways
Daniel Pearl Magnet High School offers students a dynamic Journalism Pathway, providing hands-on experience in investigative reporting, writing, and multimedia storytelling. From their first year, students engage in photography, laying the foundation for visual storytelling, and progress through Digital Photographic Design to master composition, editing, and design principles. By their third year, students refine their skills in Experimental and Commercial Photography, preparing them for real-world applications. Beyond the classroom, students have opportunities to showcase their work in competitions and conferences, contribute to the award-winning Pearl Post newspaper and yearbook, and gain experience in online publishing. These experiences not only build a professional portfolio but also cultivate critical thinking, creativity, and communication—skills essential for any career path.
For those passionate about film and media, the Video Production Pathway immerses students in the world of storytelling through cinema and television. Beginning with script writing and video production fundamentals, students advance to crafting their own production portfolios before mastering theory and practice in their capstone year. Along the way, students develop industry-level skills in editing, cinematography, and production design while gaining real-world experience through competitions, conferences, and Pearl Net News broadcasting. This program not only prepares students for college and careers in film and media but also fosters leadership, collaboration, and creative expression, empowering them to bring their visions to life on screen.
