Mr. Cruz | Teacher Librarian & Leadership Teacher
My name is Alain Cruz, and I am the teacher librarian and leadership teacher at DPMHS. I have over seven years of experience in education and I hold two credentials: one in Library Services and one in Secondary Science, Chemistry. I attended Colgate University as undergraduate where I majored in biochemistry and minored in art. After, I attended Relay Graduate School of Education in New York City where I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching. I am currently working on finishing my Master's in Library and Information Sciences degree from San Jose State University.
As the teacher librarian here at DPMHS, I strive to provide a library space where the school community can learn, research, collaborate, relax, and build community. The collection at Pearl Library aims to provide students with stories that they can see themselves in and with stories that they can learn about others. The library also seeks to provide students with the resources and information needed to conduct research independently or for class assignments. See what else the library has to offer on the library's website or on the library's monthly newsletters.
The leadership class I teach seeks to empower students to build school spirit, represent the student body in decisions, and plan school activities and events.
